I believe that the application of technology can make a real and positive impact on the lives of people and companies. But the introduction of technology for the sake of it can be harmful. What excites me is the opportunity to use technology to release people from repetitive and tedious tasks, enabling them to work on creative problems – something that technology cannot do, yet.
Two very different people with similar philosophies but in very different disciplines:
Steve Wozniak: Wozniak designed the original Apple 1 computer, and astounded his peers in how he achieved so much using so little.
Dieter Rams: As the lead designer at Braun, Rams’s minimalist approach to the user interface of devices was game changing and influenced so many products today.
I think a quote attributed to Albert Einstein sums up both of their approaches well: “everything should be as simple as possible but no simpler”.
Currently fulfilling the role of Membership Secretary for a local Scout group in Essex, and occasionally helping out in their meetings and events.
Prior roles: Stu has been working, delivering process driven enterprise software, for almost 30 years.
For over 10 years before joining Ignition Financial Stu was CTO at Valexa Technologies (now Audatex), part of the Solera group of companies. Stu led the design, development, and integration of solutions that helped some of the world’s largest insurers manage their entire claim and supply-chain processes. The team he built and led consistently beat large software vendors, including incumbents, in tenders for delivery of software solutions.
Interests: Formula One, Leisure cycling (definitely no Lycra), Walking & Hiking (including Everest Base Camp, Nepal in 2015!), and trying to improve his clay pigeon shooting.
